In many organisations most people don't understand the strategy.

Many haven't been involved in developing it.

Those who have been involved in translating it into operation have typically not done so systematically.

As a result the downstream development and ongoing operations are often only loosely aligned with the strategy.

The targets, KPIs and metrics used don't fully reflect the strategy, are likely to be unbalanced; and of course ‘what gets measured gets done’!
